Poured hazy, dark amber into a mug at the annex (former Fitzgerald’s). Off-white head which quickly dissipated, lacing persisted. “Caramelly” bouquet. Taste of figs, malt; slight alcohol bite in the aftertaste. Light mouthfeel with light carbonation. An interesting brew, a new take on Old Ales.

12 ounce bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled 11/15/16, had 12/12/16. Have had this a few times before.
Pours a medium amber that's a bit reddish in the light, fairly clear, with a half inch head and some foamy lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, malt, some caramel, a light spiciness, a little cola. The taste also leads with the malt, then spices- can't put a finger on specific ones, malt, caramel, a little chocolate. Some bitterness throughout. Smooth, well carbonated, a good body- maybe a touch light for the style.
Really want to like this a lot and rate it higher- it's good and enjoyable, but there's just something missing. That said, it's still well worth a try.

Bottle share courtesy of Rick. Belgian with nice woody notes. Brown, kind of thin body, soft airy head. Kind of sweet, yeast pulls through. Some pit fruit, light dubbel characteristics.

An absolute stunner of a brew. This beer will make you want more, and a toilet.

Thanks, Another6Pack! 12 oz bottle into a teku; from yesterday.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown color. The head is two fingers high and khaki in shade. Decent retention is featured, though not much lacing is left behind. (3.25)
Smell: This totally smacks of a Noel ale - this is a very spicy brew. Ginger, cinnamon, and cumin, mainly. By letting it warm up, I also pick up the caramel malt backbone, and even some fruity esters. I'm enjoying elements of the aroma, that much is certain. But, like many an American-brewed Belgian-style beer, though, the integration between the yeast profile (which is definitely coming through) and the malt isn't there. (3)
Taste: The nose smacked of a Noel ale; the taste smacks of a porter with Belgian elements. Having said that, there is a gentle spiciness to open it up. Its dominating note is molasses sweetness, augmented by caramel and chocolate. This finishes a bit cola-esque, and even has a slight hoppy expression. A decent dessert beer that's even moderately complex, but like I said: the Belgian aspect exist as subtle elements at best. (3.5)
Mouthfeel: It doesn't have the effervescence or crisp dryness of a typical BSDA; instead it focuses on being rich and dessert-like in feel. While it's sweet, it isn't quite slimy or cloying. The still-decent carbonation plays a role in that, methinks. (3)
Overall: While it doesn't impress me, it is a fairly nice dessert beer that maintains a modicum of balance. It's enjoyable enough, but I wouldn't look for it over the gaggle of great BSDAs out there. (3.25)
3.27/5: Pretty good, but hardly the next Keizer Blauw

Bottle 3 from the Advent Calendar. Bottled 11.20.14 and enjoyed from a tulip.
A: Pours very dark brown with some dark red undertones
S: Sweet candi sugar, dark red fruits, molasses, baked apples
T: Rich dark red fruits, brown sugar, maybe some chocolate, Christmas-ale-type spicing, and a very sweet finish.
M: Heavy feeling and vinous
O: A nice beer in a style that I'm not a fan of.
