Consumed November 5th, 2011 at the brewery. Reviewed from notes.
Appearance is medium gold with a proper one finger white head.
Aroma has an unfortunate ammonia component (simcoe hops?). Also has a solvent note in addition to the more agreeable red grapefruit and pine.
Flavor is sweet crystal malt followed by all kinds of hop flavors: pepper, pine, red grapefruit. Bitter on finish.
Mouthfeel is oily and slightly dry.
Drinkability is not hampered by the off-notes in the nose, though you need to enjoy strong hop flavor to like this one.

22oz bottle served in a little sampler. I don't see a date right now. My says "NOW MORE DANK!" on it. Given to me by @mr-jj.
Pours clear light golden with a medium head and light carbonation. Smell is mild, but dank. I get maybe a little lemon as well.
Taste is dank -- but with a bit of honeysuckle sweetness, it balances nicely. Strong, very slow bitter aftertaste. This is quite tasty today.
Mouthfeel is very thick, but a little flat. Overall, it's a good beer that could be polished a little bit.

Bright orange appearance, thin 1/3" off white head. Great amounts of funky Nelson aroma, Nelson also seems to be the biggest variation of hop out there, sometimes its great, sometimes it just isnt. Both times I've had this, it smelled great, just as good as Alpine.
Lots of tropical fruit hoppy taste without a ton of bitterness, the caramel notes, while substantial, are not distracting, they help tame the bitterness, heat and Nelson hop somewhat.
Very impressed.

Lots of malt...not much else going on. Not a terrible beer, but sure not what I expected from the label. Doubt I'll buy it again

I don't know what happened to this beer. I just purchased the beer at Costco (as I have many times before) and this batch is very different in a bad way. It's darker in color and I can only smell malt and DIACETYL! I hate to say that I had to dump this beer as I couldn't stand to drink it. I always loved this beer but will not buy this again for a few months to see if they can get this beer fixed. Very disappointed...

- 22 oz. bomber poured into Black Tuesday whiskey snifter on 2-Jan-15
Decent citrus juice notes, but overall too malty. It's borderline BW. This is a typical DIPA that's straight up just OK.
