The Pearl Street PM was decent Heffe. The beer poured a cloudy yellow with thin white head that did not lace all theat well. The smell includes clove and spice with a hint of bananna. The taste was similar to the smell. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall the beer was decent.

Served on tap into a weizen glass at the Market Garden

A- Poured a medium brown color with a one finger frothy head that left good lace.

S- Banana, bubblegum, and clove

T- Banana, bubblegum, clove, and an indistinct maltiness

M- Very thin, watery, and quite unrefreshing. Mouthfeel was thin like water, very little body.

O- This beer tasted fine, although it tasted almost just like a hefeweizen rather than a dunkelweizen. The mouthfeel really killed this beer for me. Another pretty average beer from Market Garden.

On tap in a sampler at the brewpub.

The beer is a hazy brown with a tan head. Since the bartender "swipes" the head when serving the sample (appreciated since it means I get full volume) I can't evaluate the head size or retention very well.

Aroma is full of banana and some sweet caramel malt, with a bit of clove spice.

Chewy toffee and banana blend with cloves in the flavor. Hop bitterness might be there, but stays well out of the way, as the clove does it's job of balancing the restrained sweetness. The finish is long and complex, with the various flavor notes weaving in and out of each other. On my first taste, I thought the sweetness was too pronounced, but it mellowed as I continued to drink.

Medium-full body with slight astringency from the clove phenols giving it some backbone. Carbonation blooms nicely in the mouth.

Dunkelweizen is a style I've come to appreciate over the years. I'm really enjoying this one. The flavors are nicely balanced and blended harmoniously. I could easily drink a pint of it.
