im glad they made this one again, i didnt get my hands on any last year, so its been awhile. ive always liked this minimally spiced but rich malty brew. it hides its booze well and is spot on for the season when i dont feel like anise and cloves to the head. caramel malt base is the dominant flavor in this creamy feeling beer. notes of red apples, dried dates, and maybe a sprinkle of nutmeg combine over that grain base for a unique and nuanced brew that drinks way too easy for how strong it is. winter warmers arent a style i usually spend a lot of time with, but this is one i remember fondly and am glad to have it back this year. renegade has bounced around a lot of weird styles and one offs, good to see them revisiting the hits here. one critique would be a seeming lack of body for this thing. its not thin, but i tend to prefer these sticking to my ribs a bit, and this one just never gets as dense as i kind of hoped it would. other than that though, a great example of the style.

Coffee shops? Naw doing work at Renegade Publik House. Its a cool, snowy, brisk today in Denver, no better way to beat the cold than to enjoy a nice winter warmer at your local brewery.

A&S: night black colored beer. Light tan head was poured at about 2.5 fingers of frothy head and retained in a ring with good lacing cling. Off the bat the smell mostly contained gingerbread aromas with complements of brown sugar and caramel.

T&M: Spices dominate the initial taste of this beer, however they are still pretty subdued and include cinnamon and nutmeg. Surprisingly sweet towards the finish which is pretty clean and semi-dry. Alcohol is extremely well-hidden (would have probably estimated it at 5 or 6%). Smooth but not without being syrupy.

Overall: Well put-together winter warmer. The downside to not having that alcohol presence is that it's not all that warming so I would recommend this beer on a warmer winter day. That said still an excellent beer, would consider buying again.

Dark brown color with 1 finger of light tan head. The smell was almost like clove but was the nutmeg and cinnamon blend with a hint of bitter orange citrus aroma, smelled incredible and powerful. Anticipated a strong spice due to the aroma, but was pleasantly surprised by the heavily roasted malts and brown sugar providing a nice balance to the nutmeg. Good molasses flavor, not much toffee which I anticipated, but coupled well with just the right amount of spice. Thankfully no ginger! Medium in body, this beer is quite drinkable! Just watch out for that 9%!
