Saw the tweet from Renegade about the new Black Gold Imperial Peanut Butter Cup Milk Stout brewed with real peanut butter cups so while I filled my growlers I sampled a glass. Arrived in a tulip. Deep rich black with amber brown edges when held to the light. A thin 1/4 finger khaki colored head that quickly dissipates to a film on the surface. Little lacing. The aroma is actually quite mild: mix of roasted barley, milk chocolate, peanuts, and a hint of the alcohol. Similarly the flavor was surprisingly mild. Starts off with a medium roast character from the barley together with a milk chocolate sweetness. The peanut flavor then comes to play as well as the alcohol heat. Finishes with a lingering roast, peanut, and alcohol flavor. Medium bodied and adequately carbonated. Overall, I found myself wanting more of everything: more aroma, more flavor, and a fuller body. For such a big beer I really thought it would offer more. Not bad at all, just not what I anticipated. I would drink again but would hope they can harness the character a little more next time around.

On tap at Renegade in Denver, CO. Poured into a Renegade goblet today, 1/18/2014.
Pours a beautiful dark black, opaque and inviting beer. Comes with a thin, half finger brown head. Ok retention, not much lacing- pretty standard imperial stout.
Smells good; a bit restrained. Chocolate, peanut butter (like JIF), black coffee nose. Solid, but nowhere near as awesome as it actually tastes.
So much chocolate and peanut butter, I'm beside myself right now. As a man who loves his chocolate and peanut butter together, this is a slam dunk. Sweet Baby Jesus has nothing on this, especially not in intensity.
Medium body, ok carbonation, slick and dry finish of peanut butter chocolate. It's like I took a small bite of a Reese's and sucked on it a bit.
Delicious and the best peanut butter beer ever. Great flavors, and not artificial tasting at all. Could use more thickness in the body but most certainly is what is advertised.

On tap at Renegade Brewing. Served in a small snifter glass a tad too cold for my taste but...
Appearance was dark black with a small lingering brownish head. Aromas of chocolate, sweet, toasted malt, and roasted peanuts. Taste is where this one shines: chocolate, peanut butter, and sweet malt with no bitterness at the finish. This was like drinking peanut butter cups--quite delicious. Have heard they might do this one again in the future; I'm one that hopes they do.

Growler sat for 8 days...
Damn. Gold foamy/mild-soapy head rises from a very dark black fluid. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is almost better after sitting for 8 days in a growler... Very peanuty and roasty.
Amazingly creamy and nutty. A touch too much carbonation, yet still well refined. Not overly sweet, or overdone; just right. Killer roasty-rounded nutness. Milky chocolate shines though in amazing ways. Awesome brew. Only just a touch too dry. Buttery.
This is a major hit from Renegade. A winner forsure. Now, only if they'd bottle it. This is a stellar brew; I think the time spent in a growler did lots of good. Way past recommended for the P-Butter fan, even at $28/growler. Go Broncos!!!
