650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black body. Almost inky. Small khaki head. Thin collar.

Smell - Really bourbony. Fudgy chocolate. Vanilla. A little licorice.

Taste - More chocolate than the nose. The bourbon kicks in. Sharp woody bourbon. Licorice. Bitter coffee finish. Pretty sweet.

Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Boozy. Nothing terribly offensive for the style, though.

Overall - Really good stuff. Good barrel and a tasty stout behind it.

This was one of the best overall experiences ive had with a beachwood beer. As far as the taste of the beer, the subtle heat comes up first making way for a nice profile of the roasted malt character which gives off sweet flavors of vanilla, chocoalte, and subtle bourbon flavor. the taste finishes with complimentary bitter chocolate taste. The mouthfeel has a good amount of viscosity, feels like what im looking for in a BA imperial stout. One of the better stouts that was put into a barrel IMO.

Nice cookie dough notes that really opo as it warms, with a big bourbon bite on the finish and a boozy fade. A fun beer and big thanks to Kyle. In my opinion, better than both Tovarish and System of a Stout....guess I don't much enjoy the coffee that Beachwood uses?

On tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, cookie dough, vanilla, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, cookie dough, vanilla, char, bourbon, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is very good beer that has great barrel aged characteristics that work very well with the base beer.

Serving type: on tap.

Wish the smell was on par with the taste but a very solid beer!
