Clear dark gold colour with a smooth, creamy white head. Great head retention.

Mildly hoppy aroma with distinct grassy citrus notes. No malt. Good.

Crisp piney hops with plenty of grapefruit. Really, there are a lot of hops here. A bit grassy. Very light malt. Stunning.

Medium light body with moderately-high carbonation. Refreshing.

A great APA with lots of hops and a stunning refreshing quality. Great.

On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Golden in color with a moderately sized, tightly-bubbled near-white head that leaves the glass lined with lace.

Hoppy aroma with lots of earth and pine character, along with some mild citrus and grass.

The flavor leans toward earthy and pine hop flavors, with some grass, moderate bitterness, and biscuit malt.

Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.

This tastes like a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone, which is a good thing.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a clear dark orange with a bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A curtain of foam sticks to the glass on the drink down. Smell is of lots of citrus zest and herbal hop aromas. Taste is of the same with a malty finish. There is a mild bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slight crispness and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good pale ale with a nice hop presence.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ and Brewing.

A: Bright gold with two fingers of white foam. Good retention and lots of lacing.

S: Aromatic orange and grapefruit with a touch of resinous pine. Malt is a whisper of cracker. Floral notes are evident.

T: Pine and orange pith with a moderate level of dry bitterness. Malt is barely detectable. The beer is very dry.

M: Upper light body with upper moderate carbonation.

Overall: A really dry and hoppy pale ale. I found myself wanting just a little sweetness, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

enjoyed on tap at The Blue Palm. A nice drinking pale, citrussy, with the bitterness that used to be considered an IPA in the old days. Good retained foam on yellow, very lacy. Good aroma of hops. Great beer anytime. Well carbonated, middling mouthfeel.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours goldenrod with a medium white head, some spotty lace.

S: Honey and tangerine, orange, an interesting hop character.

T: Has the same honeyed orange flavour as in the nose. Some grassy American hops, light malt.

M: Medium-bodied, crisp and smooth, medium carbonation.

O: A good pale ale, not as striking in flavour as I hoped from the dry hopping, but I liked it.

On-tap at Beachwood Brewing

A: The pour is a light amber color with a finger of white head and some nice lacing.

S: Fairly heavy on the floral and citrus hops with a lot of orange peel and a decent amount of grapefruit. There is a good amount of bread, appropriate for a pale. A light grass and fruit note as well as some pine.

T: The majority of the hop flavor is floral with a bit of pine to it. Not as much citrus as I expected, unfortunately. Most of the flavor here is bready malt with a touch of caramel and toffee. There is a bit of grass and a light bitterness on the finish.

M: The body is on the light side of medium with a moderate carbonation.

O: This is a drinkable pale ale, but it doesn't quite live up to the standard set by some of the other Beachwood beers.
