On-tap at Beachwood Brewing
Clear golden color with a big white head. Aroma is quite yeasty and floral, but a big citrus peel note to it as well. Lots of bread and malt to it, a touch of banana and pepper, too. The flavor has a fair amount of banana and bread with very nice yeast, floral hop, peppery spice, and citrus components. A nice saison all around.

On-tap at Beachwood I,
A: Pours a dark gold with a medium soapy white head, spotty lace.
S: Heavy spice character. Seems like cinnamon, Asian spice, lemongrass.
T: Again spicy in the flavour, lemon and Asian spice, citrusy. Very light malt character, well-attenuated.
M: Medium-bodied, crisp, very dry, soft carbonation.
O: A very interesting new saison from Beachwood. I would have liked the malt to play a little bigger role, but this is pretty darn good.

We have another saison to taste at Beachwood BBQ. On to the beer:
Light golden colored, solid retention of the head, a few spots lace that stick around the glass. It has a surprisingly spicy nose. In fact, it reminds me somewhat of Trade Winds Tripel, but less intense. Basil? Southeast Asian Spices? That's nice. Based on the name, I thought there would be more of a citrus addition.
Spices are the key element of the flavor. There's a lot of spice relative to whatever malt, hops, and water are in this beer. Anise and basil come to mind. Spicy rye too. It's medium bodied, with a spiced and dry aftertaste.
Much different from what I expected. If you are in the mood for a spiced saison, Mandarin Dream is, well, a dream.

On tap for the 1st Anniversary Party (7/7/12).
Reviewed from notes.
A: Pours a clear lemony yellow with a trace white head which leaves scant lace.
N: Yeasty, spices, floral, nice citrus and herbal notes.
T: Crisp peppery spice from the use of Szechuan peppercorns, saison yeast, orange zest shines.
M: Lite to moderate body and semi-moderate carbonation. Finishes on the yeasty citrus side.
O: Refreshing for a warm day.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.
Pours a clear honey orange with a tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, malt, yeast, spice, and some slight citrus aromas. Taste is the same with a slight spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good saison but the citrus zest used in the beer is pretty mild.
