Denver Jackhammer relentlessly pounds out massive hop aromas and flavors. A light base of American 2-row malt paves the way for a foundation of Chinook, Summit, Warrior, Simcoe, Columbus, Citra, and Amarillo hops. Double dry hopping with Simcoe, Citra, Centennial and Chinook will bulldoze your olfactory senses with aromas of fresh resin, bright tangerines, and herbal dankness.

On tap at the pub – Long Beach, CA
Notes taken from 06/03/14 – Full Pint

A: Caramel amber body with some peach tones and a soft hazing through the glass. Nice proper trim of ivory white lather across the top. Fair retention there with some modest etched lacing that tracks down the glass.

S: Redolent grapefruit with sweet melon, peach, florals, sticky pine, and a bit of dank herbals. Smells incredibly fruity and green with fresh hops. There is a touch of malt sweetness coming through and some alcohol as well but this is all fragrant hop goodness up in the nose.

T: Grapefruit and honeydew melon pop with some bright tangerine, peach, and apricot accents. Floral hops and sappy pines round out the remaining bounty of hop flavors. Very clean with less herbal dankiness than I was expecting. There is a huge bitter bite to this yet the entire brew is smooth and well balanced. Has a touch more caramel malt structure to it than some of the others but it works just right bringing in some light cracker there as well. Stays sticky and resinous with lots of lingering sugary bits on the palate. Alcohol is present yet well integrated. Another delicious Beachwood IPA I must say.

M: Moderate fill from the malt body. Has a nice level of creamy carb and a high amount of peppery bitterness across the palate. Nice drying finish with some warming alcohol and a long lasting linger.

D: Incredibly fresh and hop forward with a mélange of fruit flavors. Another winning IPA from these guys. While I think Amalgamator and Melrose still be my favorites; The Denver Jackhammer brings a bit more malt bill to the table and what you get is a beast of a hoppy beer. This would do well in bottles me thinks!

Highly recommended.

A veritable hop-bomb. Not bitter, but so well blended there's no way to place a key flavor aspect. Still, the brew masterfully crafted, with an adequate malt-backbone showcasing its tasty hop profile.

On tap at Strong Ale.

A: Bright and vibrant yellow orange with an enormous white head rising two fingers above the liquid. Excellent retention and a ridiculous amount of sheet-like lacing on the glass.

S: Bright hop aroma, redolent of honeydew melon, peach, apricot, grapefruit, and orange . There are some marijuana notes, as well as pine resin. No malt in the aroma.

T: Dry and resinous with a bright and expressive hop presence. Resinous pine blends with juicy orange and apricot with some grapefruit rind. No malt influence to speak of. Very well hidden alcohol and a crisp, dry, clean hoppy finish.

M: Medium body with upper medium carbonation. Dry, crisp, sticky mouthfeel.

Overall: Damn good. Highly recommended.

On tap at the 2014 Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with really nice citrus forward hop qualities all around.
