On-tap at Beachwood I, a smoked saison for Beachwood's 6th anniversary,
A: Pours a dark brown to black with a medium off-white head, some lace.
S: Dark malt, dark chocolate with some sweet smoke.
T: Gets a real Belgian flair here. Dark malt with some prune and big ester component. Almost a Black IPA/Saison hybrid.
M: Crisp, medium-bodied, smooth, a nice drink.
O: I liked what they did here, but it wasn't as intriguing as High Five; I really liked what the spices brought to that beer. Nevertheless, this is quite a good beer, with some nice flavours, a real melange of styles.

Bottle I brought to share at Retsinis' tasting.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of smoked malt, grain, and spices. Taste is much the same with a smoke flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a high level of carbonation with a crisp and prickly mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but I think it smells much better than it tastes.
