Pours a solid finger of light tan head over a brilliant dark copper liquid. Smells caramel powder, iron, copper, maple syrup on crispy french toast. Dried leaves and a gentle hint of toffee.

Tastes of toasted grains and a mild dash of smoke. Layers of caramel and toffee on malt sweet that is balanced by sharp fine carb cutting through a md-light body. Iron and a bit of phenol spicey that could be from the phenol created by toasting the grains. Low hop bitter and almost no hop flavor. Mild fruity esters of dried peach and apricot. Finish has a drying astringency that I'm not particularly fond of. Overall, a very nice drinking beer on a cool fall evening.

This is the second time I've had GlenLongBeach, and something about it seems better than the first time (sometime last year) I had it. The appearance is a reddish copper. It has a nice, carbonated head. The smell is of sweet, sticky malts with some biscuit in the background. The taste is absolutely spot on. It's sweet but not overwhelmingly. The hops take a backseat (which shows Julian's flexibility considering the majority of the beers they seem to brew are hop forward).

Overall, this is, in my opinion, an outstanding beer. It's something I see myself drinking repeatedly, and the fact that it clocks in at 5% abv makes this a sessionable ale. Cheers!

On tap at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Pours a clear dark orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and bread-like aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet caramel and toast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty but is prett sweet in the flavors.

On-tap at the source and served in a thistle, on to the beer:

A Scottish Ale that is amber colored with a tint of brown, so not as dark as the pint of James that I had before. The head retention is excellent and has a creamy texture. The kilned malt is the maker of a Scottish Ale, and in both the aroma and taste, there is that character present. Somewhat fruity as well, and with a light/medium body, is a pleasing glass of beer.
