Checked this place out on 7/5/11 for its grand opening. Beachwood II is located on 3rd St. in downtown Long Beach, in a cramped little area of the city. Street parking can be a problem, but they will validate parking from the adjacent lot for up to 3 hours.
Walking in its quite a bit larger than the original location. In the center is a long bar with at least 20 seats. Surrounding that are a bunch of little tables with some booths at the south end.
Selection was great, lots of local stuff for the opening. Had a Lost Abbey Framboise de Amarosa, Craftsman Sour Braggot, and a Port Ocean Beach Bacon and Eggs Imperial Porter. Only tried one of the house beers, Kilgore Stout, and thought it was pretty good, nice job Julian.
Service was solid, took a tad too long to get a beer at one point, but I guess there's a lot more people to serve here. Justin seems to be the head guy here, so you know the service will good.
I didn't have any of the food, but it looks like it's the same for the most part as Beachwood I's menu, and I know how I feel about that.
I really liked the location, unfortuantely it's more than twice as distant as Beachwood I and the traffic up 2nd and Ocean can suck, so it's not a place I'll probably go that often, mostly when something interesting is on-tap and spend most of the time at Beachwood I. Nevertheless, Long Beachers in the area have a great new restaurant, just wish it was in Huntington.
