A: pours dark brown. Cappuccino colored head. Deep brown.

S: smells like chocolate and peanut butter, and that is a rare smell to get from a beer, in my experience. Very rich smell.

T: nice creamy flavor, but, being a porter not a stout, it isn't uite as thick. The hazelnut is a little harder to read in the taste, but it is still nice.

M: extremely easy to drink, although I usually like beers to have a little more body.

O: I'm not usually a fan of porters/light stouts but this one has good flavor. It is something I'd get again.

On tap at the Khyber.

Served in a tulip. Black in color--or at least it appeared that way in the dim light of the bar--with a thin head; not much in retention or lacing. Aroma of dark malts, caramel, light nuttiness. Similar in the taste, dark malts, moderate roast, caramel and hazelnut sweetness that wasn't overbearing. Body was medium, about right for an average porter. Decent overall, but not something I'd reach for again.

Wow very rich awesome nice mouthfeel. The only thing I didn't like was the head it was pretty much non existent. The aroma was this beautiful chocolate flavor with this subtle pleasant roasty aroma. The taste was pretty much the same with some nice bitterness. Overall great beer everything tied together very well.

22 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Bottled 10 Nov. 2014.

A: Pours near black with a short light brown head. Poor head retention soon left only a ring but there was some spotty lacing.

S: Rich chocolate initially followed by a stronger nutty hazelnut note with a hint of peanuts. Black bread in the background. Exceptionally pleasant mix of well balanced aromatics.

Taste: the dark and sweet chocolate is more evident here compared to the roasted nut flavors. The hazelnut does linger on in the aftertaste. Lightly and appropriately sweet. Dark roasted grains with a faint smokiness become more apparent as the ale warms.

Feel: Medium bodied; very smooth; medium carbonation.

O: A solid porter with restrained and well balanced contributions from chocolate and hazelnut. The blend overall slightly favors the hazelnuts, but even together these are scream FLAVORED beer.

Dessert in liquid form, rich, robust porter with chocolate and hazelnut notes on the pallet. On the nose I get coffee and nutty hazelnut. Delicious beer!

Bottled 10.27.14.

A: Pours black with a tall, effervescent medium brown head. Good head retention but no real sign of any lacing.

S: Really nice sweet chocolate initially. A little swirl and the hazelnuts kick in. Not overpowering but still a nice rich addition.

T: Taste follows the aroma. Huge amount of delicious rich, sweet chocolate. There is a decadent hazelnut that just pokes through. Chocolate sweetness fades a little and becomes slightly bittersweet as the hazelnuts shows up even stronger, into the finish. It really reminds me of dark chocolate covered hazelnuts that I love (from Taza). Clean, crisp finish with just a bit of lingering chocolate sweetness.

M: Medium bodied, very smooth and easy drinking.

O: Pretty simple beer, chocolate and hazelnut (duh). It does exactly what it says and it does it well. Sweet dessert beer for sure with decadent flavors. Smooth viscous body for only 7% ABV which makes it go down even nicer. I enjoyed it a lot.
