Wife picked up this bomber after I have passed over it many...many times.

Pours a light amber/peach colored ale with a billowing frothy lump of cream..er...foam in the glass. Really nice pour and good sticky lacing.

Smells of almost ripe mango, pungent, light orange, more citrus....and a whiff of rubber.

Pretty hoppy taste here though it is drinkable with a white grapefruit finish. It actually works pretty darn well. Mouthwatering between sips. A touch of sweet malt is also present which tries to work its way through...but barely shows. A lot of rind on the finish as well. Long lasting aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is pretty full. Not overly bubbly as some DIPA can be.

Overall I liked this presentation but wasn't blown away by it. It a very drinkable double and friendly for first time DIPA drinkers.

Lacy, persistent off-white head on a clear pale-golden body. lots of bubbles.

Smells of piney hops, with just a hint of caramel.

A slow wave of pine across the tongue. Alcohol is well hidden and it finishes fairly clean. Some lingering citrus notes on the roof of my mouth.

For an imperial IPA, it's on the crisper, lighter side. Would pair nicely with a mild blue cheese.

Overall, pretty good. Imperial IPAs often feel like you shoved a handful of hops in your mouth, but this one is quite that aggressive. Probably won't make it a point to buy the bottle again, but I'd try it on tap if I saw it somewhere.

Thanks to schwartzoid - Bottled on 5/28/12. Poured into a NB globe.

Good looking beer, pours a nice deep amber color with a good fingers worth of fluffy white head. Some lacing, but not much left along the glass.

Nose is heavy on the citrus notes. Good amount of pine can be noticed as well.

Lots of bitterness as one would expect in the taste. Grapefruit and pine above all, with a hint of malt background that adds a bit of sweetness.

Medium in body and carbonation. Dry and bitter finish.

Pretty decent DIPA, I've had better ones but this is enjoyable for sure.

On Tap at the Brewery

A - Very nice light copperish orange with an egg shell one finger head. Head disappears quickly and the lacing is long lasting. Pretty good carbonation

S - Plenty going on here with grapefruit, citrus, floral notes, pine, and sweet malt. There are also some "dank" elements going on in there which is very cool indeed. Reminds one of..of..of... I forgot what I was going to say ;-)

T - Big Hoppy flavors right up front, which are slightly tempered by the citrus and malt. Finish is bitter hops. Even though this is stockpiled with hops, it still feels balanced.

M - Full flavor with a slight, slight interesting oiliness to it. Pretty decent carbonation but that works perfectly on the finish to help round out the huge hops.

O - A real winner here, this brew will be a regular of mine. Outstanding beer.

Pours gold with a big, soft, white, foamy head that has good retention. The nose is big and floral with some grapefruit and mango undertones. The flavor is lightly malty up front with a big citrusy, floral hop character that dominates. There is a clean hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation. It's smooth and easy to drink.

This has a good flavor but it's a hop bomb. There is very little malt character to battle the intense hops. The citrus and floral notes up front are solid, but extremely bitter and it takes away a bit from the drinkability. Ultimately, I would have this again, but I would have to split the bomber again.

Thanks to ipa247 for this one. Poured from a 22oz. bomber into a Southampton oversize snifter. Shared with schen9303

Pours a clear orange-copper. Layer of thin, fine white head that dissipates quickly. Lacing is stringy and spotty with decent cling. A decent looking beer. Head size and retention could use a little work.

Nose is very aromatic. Citrus, pine, papaya, and tree sap with a heavy dose of cane sugar. Nice sweetness with a balanced hop bitterness.

Opens tree sap hoppiness, citrus, cane sugar, and grainy brown sugar bitterness. Strong hop bite towards the middle with a bitter astringency. Ends dry bark and sap. Finish is bitter with a sticky, hoppy aftertaste. Malt backbone is present but the hop presence is sticky and overpowering here. I can see what the brewer is trying to do here, but its not for me.

Light bodied with moderate to ample carbonation. Bubbly and prickly in the mouth and dry and sticky going down. Finish is dry with a bone dry aftertaste. Decent.

A west coast ipa with a twist. This one's packed with a robust fruit puree flavor that's completely overpowered by the hop profile. Very bitter with a dry, robust, raw hop aftertaste. Again, this is a decent beer but its not my cup of tea.

Quite pale for the style and somewhat cloudy. A white head that laces well.

Very impressive aroma. Hugely dank - big notes of pine, lime and tropical fruits suggested by the combination of hops and malt.

Followed up very well in the taste. All those elements work in harmony with a subtle malt base underpinning it all. Very firm, but smooth bitterness which works very well in the context of the flavours and cleans the sweetness up very well.

Viscous enough to feel substantial, but still relatively light bodied. High bitterness helps to give this feeling, I think, but i'd hazard a guess that this is reasonably well attenuated.

I really, really enjoy this IPA. It's not a 'wow' factor beer, but it's exceptionally well made and is a benchmark of all major characters that should be embodied by this style.
