Draft at the Taphouse tonight.. Pours dark amber.. Thin... No complex maltiness really at all.. Really wanted to like this more.... For as dark as it was, I REALLY expected this one to have much more malty complexity or even a bit of melanoidin notes.. Very one dimensional.
Too bad.

Served on tap into a shaker glass.
A- Poured a rich reddish brown with off-white frothy head that left minimal lace.
S- Light brown sugar and butterscotch notes.
T- Rich butterscotch, coffee, and toffee notes. Some pretty big bready notes, and honey sweetness. Finishes with moderate bitterness.
M- Quite smooth and creamy , light warming, prickly carbonation, and very dry.
O- A really nice Scotch Ale with lots of rich malt flavors and quite a bit of bitterness to keep it from being too sweet.

On draught at Bailey's, served in an imperial pint, Scottish Heart is a ruddy brown / dark amber with a khaki head leaving some really nice lace.
Smell is malty, very balanced, not overly sweet, more herbal.
Taste is also dominantly malty, but the bitterness of the hops tempers any sweetness. Restrained, but continues to open with warmth.
Mouthfeel is very creamy, giving them medium heavy bodied a litheness. Off-dry.
Drinkability is pretty good, this is a solid brew. The soft, creamy is almost nitro like, which dulls the flavor a bit. Over all, I like it, but could use just a wee bit more.

On tap at GoodLife Bier Hall, 12.28.11. Brewed in collaboration with Tonya Cornett for St. Andrew's Day.
One finger dark tan body, quick dissipation with minimal lacing, over medium brown body, no visible carbonation due to dark hue. Pretty interesting nose, toffee, caramel, not much hop aroma. Taste is sweet but not too sweet, toffee, caramel, faint bit of chocolate, a bit of nuttiness but no peat notes present. Mouthfeel is close to medium, not sticky, fairly dry finish. Very approachable due to lack of peat/smoke notes, but I thought the body was a little thin, could have benefited from more extensive conditioning.
