look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance: Slighty cloudy brown color. Off white head

Smell: Smells of malt and hops

Taste: MMM hops are great in this one. A little harsh on the bittering hops but flavor hops are perfect. Citrusy and apricot with a touch of earthy taste in the finish

Mouthfeel: Dryness of the hop bite overwhelms the mouthfeel.

Drinkability: My favorite beer of the 4 I tried from this brewpub.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: Hazy dark golden color, with a very small white head, and minimal lacing.

Aroma: Quite prominent citrus and grapefruit hop aroma, which all but overwhelms the slight caramel malt note.

Taste: Strong pine tar hops from start to finish. The caramel malt struggles to assert itself against a wall of hops. The pine tar note lingers well on past the end of the taste.

Mouth feel: Smooth and soft, quite full, very pleasing.

Drinkability/notes: Well made, but seems a bit off-balance with a heavy-handed hop presence. Quite a refreshing summer brew, though.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 2.5

A: Nice dark yellow / light amber color. White head fades quickly.

S: Cold the beer smells of citrus hops and peach sweetness. As it warms up you get earth hops and apricot sweetnes.

T: Disappointing after the nice aromatics. Mild peach sweetness up front is almost immediately wiped out by a heavy hops bitterness that persists through the finish.

M: Small bubble carbonation up front a little thin on the finish.

D: Nice aromatics are fudged by an unbalanced palette, the hops are too aggressive for the level of malt sweetness.

An American pale ale that is pretty typical of the style except that it has an exception abundance of floral hop aroma without an overpowering bitter hop taste (it reminds of Bridgeport Brewery's Hop Harvest Ale)

Pale straw color with decent head retention.

One of my favorite of Fredericksburg's beers.

(According to the menu, this beer is 5.8 ABV.)

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.25

Appearance: a light orange with good clarity. A small white head that leaves nothing behind.

Smell: crystal and Munich Malta. Citrusy and floral hops

Taste: starts off with a strong German malt base that interacts with weak citrusy and floral hops. Tastes watery.

Mouthfeel: pretty light and unremarkable.

Overall: I like the idea and effort but it comes of unbalanced and a bit off

Consumed May 14th, 2012 at the brewery. 5.8% ABV according to menu.

Beer is a clear urine yellow with very, very nice sheeting from the off-white head.

No discernible aroma.

Very smooth flavor, what there is of it. A thin Munich/crystal malt flavor up front is very subtle. Floral hops finish things up with almost no bitterness. Weak flavor but not flawed.

Unremarkable mouthfeel.

Not much going on here, but probably a fine beer for a hot Texas Sunday. If you can drink on Sunday there. Damned blue laws...

Reviewed 12/6/2008 (Tap @ the brewery):

Pours a copper clear color body, very light in appearance. Has a small frothy white head. A hoppy aroma, grapefruity, nice aroma. Hoppy taste, some grapefruit. Watery palate. Somewhat bitter aftertaste. Some carbonation. A light flavor, but not much is there.

This was the only beer I tasted during my visit to the Fredericksburg Brewing Company today. I've been on a bit of a Hops kick lately but unfortunately this didn't live up to my expectations.

A - Looks decent enough, a nice golden color a good one finger head that quickly dissipated.
S - You can smell the hops and a little bit of the floral contribution that make up this brew.
T - This is where things went south. I was expecting something with a little bit of hop. It was there but the overpowering aftertaste was a coffee flavor. They also offer a coffee porter so I was wondering if the lines got crossed somewhere.
D - It was drinkable, again would have been better without the aftertaste. I would have liked to try some of their other offerings but had to drive back to SA.
M - Good body, not over done.

A - Thin white head that dissolves quickly. Golden clear body.

S - Slightly sweet, with hops and malt. Floral. Candy and grass.

T - Wooden aftertaste is VERY present, almost overwhelming. Hardly any intensity to balance on the front. I'm yearning for more hops as well. Just has minimal flavor with a weird wooden aftertaste.

M - Not enough carbonation or frothiness. Kind of boring.

O - Drinkable but not necessarily enjoyable. Glad I only bought the 4oz sample.

This is the best APA I have had the pleasure to have on draft. It's close to a IPA which is why I think I love it. Couldn't get a good aroma in the brewery. I love this beer. Nice hops, smooth taste and nice bite as the beer goes down. One of the best they offer.

Peacepipe is a standard APA copper with a small, bubbly head. Aroma is of citrissy hops with an underlying sweet malt. Flavor is full of west coast citrissy hop flavor. An underlying malt flavor has moderate sweetness and balances the hops nicely. The overall fresh flavor of this beer make it a winner, otherwise it would be just a standard brewpub APA. Drinkability is high, this is the kind of beer I like to spend an entire evening with.
