22 oz. bottle, with bottled on date 03/07/2014. The new pale ale from Three Floyds, expectations are moderate. Awesome bottle art.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - Pours a bright fiery sunset orange with three plus fingers of head. Some fine sediment is visible. Nice scattered lacing. Looks nice.
S - Smell is of bready honeyed malt, caramel malt, and some light herbal piney hoppiness. Mild soapiness. More light & subdued than expected.
T - Taste follows the nose - pine, grapefruit, melon, lemon. Spritzy, grapey, lightly bready. Simple in it's approach, but it hits it's mark.
M - Feel is smooth, creamy, and frothy. Mildly high / coarse carbonation.
Overall, an alright offering from Three Floyds, but it definitely isn't pushing any boundaries. Smooth & drinkable for the abv. Worth trying once, but I wouldn't want it again.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/17/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/floral hops and moderate malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, light toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, robustness, and complexity of citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pale ale. Good complexity and balance of citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt sweetness; with very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
