Style | ABV
American Pale Ale (APA) |  5.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
5.0% ABV, 30 IBUs - This beer is 3 Floyd’s American “Mild” Ale. With a more assertive hop profile that British Milds and a relatively low alcohol content this is a great session beer that still has Pale Ale characteristics. Pride and Joy is a golden color with a fruity nose and a light caramel sweetness to balance the crisp finish. A truly refreshing ale that drinks easily.

Appearance: Poured this bad boy into a snifter and was dark gold/light amber in color. The head was approximately 1 finger, maybe a little more, but I was a bit disappointed with the head as it faded away pretty fast. Can't be upset with that beautiful golden/amber hue, though.

Smell: Definitely got the citrus notes upfront. Although I could pick up a hint of the malty undertones, I felt I had to really search for them.

Taste: Pride & Joy is a very balanced beer. Goes down nice and easy. Nothing too overpowering here. A little on the bitter side for the aftertaste, but the malt and hops have a nice little conversation, balancing each other out. Definitely mild.

Mouthfeel: Smoooth. Doesn't linger around or leave your mouth super dry. Again, definitely mild.

Overall I thought it was a solid brew. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything from FFF. It's not necessarily a beer I would wet my pants over, but I wouldn't be upset if I had to drink it. The beer definitely fits the description of "mild." Incredibly balanced in every aspect. Would have maybe liked it to be a bit more crisp, but I can't be upset over what it isn't.

Serving: Bottle into footed pilsener
Served: 7 April 2014

Appearance: Crystal clear with an amber tinge. A small white, foamy white head on the top that diminishes to about a half a finger and leaves good lacing.

Smell: Citrus and floral hoppiness dominate the nose, but there is a slight hint of malt sweetness.

Taste: A nice assertion of citrus hoppiness on a sweet malt backbone.

Mouthfeel: Perfect carbonation for the style. Body fits what I would expect for a 5% APA.

Overall: Another great beer by FFF, and one that I think is sometimes overlooked. This one is comparable in quality and taste to SNPA, though this one has a slightly thinner body in my opinion, and is just slightly darker. Would recommend, especially for those beginning to explore the hoppier sides of craft beer.
