A 12 ounce bottle from JM03; thanks again! Poured into a tulip glass...
Pours a hazy copper/orange color with a finger’s breadth of fluffy, white head that lingers for about a minute before subsiding to a ring of bubbles and hearty patches across the surface of the liquid. Lacing is minimal, as the bubbles left on the glass are wet and simply slide back down into the beer over the course of a few seconds.
Aroma is of bread-like malt, caramel, toasted malt, dull grasses, and ample citrus (orange, lemon). Malt certainly takes the forefront in this one, but the citrus is certainly noticeable.
Malts dominate the beginning of the taste, imparting a bready, biscuity flavor initially, followed by toasted malt and caramel almost immediately. In the middle, the herbs, grains, and grasses make a quick appearance, reminding one this was listed as a pale ale and not an amber. The end is all hops and citrus, in true pale ale fashion. Really a “night-and-day” difference between the start and finish of the drink.
Mouthfeel is crisp, smooth, refreshing, and with an only slightly dry finish that leaves one wanting another sip. Very well done here.
Overall, a phenomenal brew that would be a staple in my fridge were it available locally.
