Had the pleasure of trying this on-tap at DLD08. I know pwoods has been waiting for me to review it since I pretty much didn't shut up about making the trip to Indy to get some for months afterward. This review is on the bottle, however, poured into a pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a golden, honey-amber color with a giant 2-3 finger head. The foam is a light golden-tan and it's very lofty and thick with excellent retention. Nice sticky lacing throughout. Bubbles of carbonation rise in the clear liquid.
Smell: It smells delicious. That's the best way I can describe it - very hoppy, citrusy as with most Three Floyd's I've had. It does have a little warm maltiness in the smell as well.
Taste/Mouthfeel: The taste is a wonderful balance between spicy, citrusy hops and toasty, caramelly malts & grains. The carbonation is moderate and keeps the beer very light and crisp. I like the combination of the light mouth from the beer and the creaminess of the head that hangs around throughout the entire time I drink it. The alcohol is not too forward, in fact hardly noticeable except slightly in the sweet aftertaste that hangs around. I love the mix of tastes I get in this beer - a little bitter, a little sweet, a little grainy. It is definitely well-rounded and satisfying without being too heavy or overwhelming.
Drinkability: SO GREAT! I could drink this all day. A session beer for people who like good beer. I couldn't ask for much more (but please start distributing again in Ohio).
