Pours a glowing orangey copper with a big white head. Great lacing. Really nice looking beer.
Smell is very much like a red ale to me, with the same English Breakfast tea aroma. There is some sweet malt and light hops. A touch earthy. A zing of lemon zest at the end. Again, nice.
The taste is good but not great. It is growing on me, however. IT is quite bitter, but not in a hoppy, IPA type way. Not sure how to describe it. Almost a root-like quality with a touch of licorice. Interesting.
Mouthfeel is solid but it does finish a bit watery. A bitterness, not unlike that of Lipton tea, lingers.
From my initial sips, I did not love this beer. However, in the end it grew on me and I really ended up enjoying it. Bet this would be really solid on draft...
