American Pale Ale (APA) |  5.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
5.0% ABV, 30 IBUs - This beer is 3 Floyd’s American “Mild” Ale. With a more assertive hop profile that British Milds and a relatively low alcohol content this is a great session beer that still has Pale Ale characteristics. Pride and Joy is a golden color with a fruity nose and a light caramel sweetness to balance the crisp finish. A truly refreshing ale that drinks easily.

GDBEERMAN hooked this up on a trade! Thanks Rob!

Poured from brown 12oz bottle to a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

A - The beer pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color. A nice two finger slightly off-white head. Good retention and lacing.

S - A very nice aroma of sweet toasted malts and citrus hop flavors. Almost fruity in tone. Very nice.

T - The beer starts off a bit sweet from the malts. A minor fruity tone and slightly tart. The mild bitterness comes through next along with the citrus hop flavor. Caramel malt flavors. The beer finishes slightly dry with a fruity note and sweetness to accompany the hops.

M - lighter bodied with good carbonation.

O - A very good beer. I am glad to have tried it.

Note: This review was a re-post from my former account, jmkratt, which was hacked and I lost all my reviews...sorry for the redundancy.

Three Floyds
Pride & Joy Mild Ale

Pours a clear light straw color. Aromas of sweet grains and a touch of flowery hop. In the flavor, very mild with a crisp grainy flavor, some mild pine and citrus, and a touch of sweet bread. Pretty one note but decent at that. Hop flavor is delicate and leafy, with the faintest touch of fruit, mostly muted. One of the mildest beers I've encountered, Pride and Joy goes down like water. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a crisp carbonation. No offensive flavors at all, this would be suitable for even the most casual beer drinker. Still, tasty enough to be considered a fine beer, just a light one. Light body, solid carbonation. Overall, a decent pale mild and one I was glad to try.

On tap in a pint glass

A- Pours deep dark, but clear orange. No head but I cant really say its the beers fault.
S- This has a fairly mild smell but is not watered down or anything. Had a light caramel sweetness and a fantastic fresh hop profile.
T- A very nice array of fresh hops, dry hopped for sure. The hops were somewhere in between citrusy, astringent and flowery but it was a perfect balance. A somewhat sweet backbone.
M- This is a very easy to drink beer, an average level of bitterness but in perfect balance. A good refreshing mouth feel, not filling but still full of flavored and far from watered down.
O- This beer is an A grade example of what it claims to be, A mild pale ale. Fantastic stuff. Get some.
