Scottish Ale |  6.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
30 IBUs - A bold Scottish ale with a complex malty body derived from roasted and crystal malts balanced with just the right combination of hops. This ale pours a deep ruby color, has a sweet malty nose with layered caramel and roasted notes and a full body. Robust yet smooth, Robert The Bruce is a malt lover’s delight.

A - Pours suprisingly dark with a thin had that dissapeared almost before I got to see it. Brown color that shows red against the light.

S - Not a massive smell to speak of, but there are very noticable sweet and bitter malts in this brew.

T - Starts very smooth and sweet and then hits a bite of bitter at the end, a nice combo of bitter hops and malts to round it out. There is really a battle of bitter and sweet that occurs in your mouth.

M - Again, starts off very light and smooth and then hits you in the back of the tongue and mouth, but still rolls down nicely.

D - While this has a pretty high ABV, and slightly bitter, I could see this being a close to regular beer. It is a solid beer to drink midway through you session and doesn't totally kill the pallete or leave you fall over drunk.

look: 4.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearance:
Minimal light tan head, dark with a copper/reddish hue in the light
Nose:
rather minimal scents coming from this beer, alcohol, malt, caramel
Palate:
light alcohol presence weaved in and out of this beer, mild malt, sweet caramel, dried fruit flavors in the finish. Light Orange/citrus.
Overall:
I've been becoming a big fan of scotch ales as of late. This is a really well balanced and enjoyable beer. This one ranks high up on my list for this style of beer.
