I poured this 12oz bottle of Scottish ale into my red wine glass. Considering everything that I have tasted from Three Floyds, I expected the world from this ale. However, I will not let that color my review.
A: It pours a very hazy, dark red/ruddy color. The thin cream head sits on top and seems to stay well. There is a lot of active carbonation. Not much lacework.
S: There is a sweet malty presence, accompanied by an alcoholic smell, like bourbon? There is the faintest smell of hops. The smell in general is not strong. I would have liked a bigger smell.
T: The taste is sweet. There is not much else that stood out to me. It has hints of caramel and there is a warming alcohol presence.
M: The mouthfeel was smooth and rich! Wet, maybe? It was not syrupy, but it coated. The carbonation helped smooth everything out.
D: I didn't find this beer interesting enough to buy a six-pack. It is easy enough to drink, but too expensive to be worth it.

From a bottle into a pint glass.
A: pours dark red with about 1/4 inch of thin foam that disappears quickly. I did get several rings of lace that clung to my glass through out.
S: dominated by yeast and malts.
T: a bit sweet at times giving off brown sugar notes. Yeast, malts, and a bit of oak bitterness at the end.
M: smooth and quite easy drinking. I would say medium for mouthfeel
O: not even close to my favorite from Three Floyd's or even a Scottish Ale for that matter. Not bad...but not great either.
