A: Nice frothy head with a mixture of mostly small tight bubbles but with a few larger bubbles mixed in (a sure sign it will die). I don't expect the head to remain this nice the entire beer but it should keep a presence around the rim of the glass...and it hasn't. The head has fallen from an impressive creation to a common o-ring. Crystal clean, dark auburn color. Seductive hue.
S: Familiar smell of roasted crystal malt with hints of chocolate malts. No hops on the nose to speak of.
T: Not as aggresive as I was expecting. I'm thinking glorified ESB. Sweet roasted malt flavor hits the tongue then stays...for a while... until a bitterness gently washes over, but thats about it. Very subtle peet flavors towards the end but certainly not as pronounced as most scottish ales.
M: Decent texture. Good body.
D: Eh. I was really expecting a lot here. A scottish ale from Three Floyds....it should have been great. Instead they pulled on the reigns instead of letting the beer run wild. Nice taste but not very complex.
