Notes/Commercial Description:
30 IBUs - A bold Scottish ale with a complex malty body derived from roasted and crystal malts balanced with just the right combination of hops. This ale pours a deep ruby color, has a sweet malty nose with layered caramel and roasted notes and a full body. Robust yet smooth, Robert The Bruce is a malt lover’s delight.

One of the easiest beers to get from FFF. Found in Bowling Green, KY in a variety of shops there.

Caramel brown pour with 1.5 fingers of butterscotch cream head. Decent retention and wispy strands of lace.

Nose is peat, caramel, toffee, and tea. All the things that make a great Scotch ale.

Peat, caramel and toffee dominate the taste. Very strong flavors, especially as the glass warms. Strong malt finish with bitter caramel rounding things out. Well done.

Body is perfect for a stronger interpretation. Heavy, thick with syrup.

I'm a big fan of the style and FFF hit the mark with this one.

From a bottle into a pint glass.

A: pours dark red with about 1/4 inch of thin foam that disappears quickly. I did get several rings of lace that clung to my glass through out.

S: dominated by yeast and malts.

T: a bit sweet at times giving off brown sugar notes. Yeast, malts, and a bit of oak bitterness at the end.

M: smooth and quite easy drinking. I would say medium for mouthfeel

O: not even close to my favorite from Three Floyd's or even a Scottish Ale for that matter. Not bad...but not great either.
