Dark, ruby-chocolate color. Thinish head recedes to a ring around the glass with minimal lacing.
Smell is robust and malty with caramel and roasted notes.
Roasted almond upfront in the palate. Sturdy wheat backbone. Buttery. Lots of caramel. Hint of plum. Mild, leafy hop. Rich, malty character overall, as it should be.
Full bodied, smooth feel. Malty, grainy texture. Well carbonated.
Great example of a well executed scotch ale. Haven't had one of these in a while and it sure hit the spot.
