My first BA review. Hi guys!
I was actually inspired by this amazing brew to start an account, rate, and review. I have had this beer two times: once at a local Indy restaurant (La Margarita in Fountain Square, which has a rotating 3F tap), and once at a the 3F Brewpub in Munster (which has amazing food as well--go if you can!).
To my mind, hoppy ales need something special to make them stand out from the competition, and 3F has more than a few excellent ones already. So should they keep this one around? Maybe put it in bottles? Oh heck yes!
They say the hops variety is as yet unnamed, and regardless of the mystery thus involved, it is truly a unique flavor. It pours a medium amber and has a full body and substantial mouthfeel. The hops variety is the star here, and it offers both complexity and simplicity. Yes, that sounds contradictory, but it's true and what makes this beer so intriguing. It is simple in that the flavors come through with great clarity. But it is also complex in that you get some nice orange, grapefruit, and pine flavors in a hops flavor profile that is truly unique in my experience (better than what it sounds in my simple description). Malt flavor is expertly balanced with the hops flavor, which is something I find 3F does so well.
I hope this one is not going away--love love love!
