Hazy golden amber in color with a thick two finger head of tightly laced foam that keeps with incredible persistence. As it (very slowly) recedes there is fat lacing on the glass.
The nose is bready, malty-caramel with sharp citrusy hops that have a bit of lemon peel and grapefruit.
Tastes like what an IPA should taste... in all its hopped up glory! Upfront you're hit with robust floral and citrus hops. But this mellows out as a brawny malt backbone eases your stunned palate with sweet bready deliciousness. The finish has a bitter grapefruity flavor that lingers - but definitely leaves you hankering for more.
I hope it's not the hype or my appreciation to have finally tried this brew, but I think this experience is about as close I've come to a quasi-religious beer moment.
