A- 4.5 This is eerily similar to PtE in appearance (just had that last night)... Pure golden color and barely clear on the pour with a big 2 finger off-white head. The head sticks all over the tulip glass as it dissipates down to about a 1/4" level through the drink. Very uniform look with micro bubbles slowly but lively dancing about give it a smooth and nice appearance.
S- 5 Dreadnaught has a great, powerful, and floral hoppy aroma up front. It is just a bit citrusy, not as much so as other IIPAs I've had, but where that is lacking it brings a nice caramel / light malt backdrop to the table that really rounds it out nicely.
T- 4.5 This tastes excellent. It is well-balanced as it has a strong hop presence initially that turns to a sweet fruit combination of grapefruit and peach with a bit of malt. Its alcohol is well-hidden. As it warms I can taste honey; maybe that is an effect of the aforementioned flavors' combination...
M- 4.5 This feels very good for the most part, but leaves a syrupy dry finish. It is, however, a very manageable medium body with just-right carbonation.
D- 4.5 Although it is readily available to me for the most part, this is basically a special occasion brew. It is very good, it is very strong, and it is very expensive. Those don't add up to an everyday drinker of a beer... That said, for the style, it is up there with the best of 'em and a bomber is a piece of cake. The awesome scent and tasty, balanced taste of the Dreadnaught are why it is touted so highly. This is a great IIPA.
