22oz bottle from zrab11 (thanks man!). No bottling info. Served in a Terrapin snifter.
Pours hazy orange with a full one finger of fluffy white head that cakes on the lace where it rests.
Aromas of sweet citrus orange, pineapple, mango, papaya and a little bready malt sitting in The background. Good stuff.
Taste is a delightful bitter fruity hop bomb full of mango, orange, peach, slight citrus peel, challah bread, white peppercorn, lemon zest, wet grass, biscuit, a touch of apple and a dose of alcohol. Drinks very easily for 9.5% abv. The sweet fruit dominate but every sip seems to reveal another layer.
Mouthfeel is slick, rich, oily medium full with appropriate carbonation to keep those flavors lively once they coat the tongue. Long bittersweet tropical fruity finish.
So happy to get a full bottle to my greedy self! I've had a couple bottles shared before but this is a pleasure to sit back and enjoy on my own. This has to be one of my top five imperial IPAs. It's bitter, sure- but so much more with all those delightful tropical fruits backed by layers of sweet "balancing" malts. It might not be for everybody but I highly recommend that you try for yourself and decide. ISO!
