Live tasting bomber into Duvel tulip.. Huge thanks to rmcnealy for this one!
Appearance; pours a lovely hazy golden orange color with two fingers of loose off white colored head... Retention is decent, with a fairly thick film clinging to the top of the beer after a few minutes.. Lacing is solid with nice healthy clumps of lace clinging to the glass.
Smell; very subdued unfortunately, was hoping for a much more present aroma, unfortunately no bottle date to be found so i'm uncertain when this was bottled... An intense whiff yields pineapple, mango and some citrus.. A slight bready/yeasty aroma is also noticeable.
Taste; resinous notes are my initial impression, with pine being a primary component... Pineapple, mango orange and peach make a brief appearance...
Mouthfeel; effervescent carbonation makes Dreadnaught feel lively in the mouth with a crisp finish and a slightly lingering bitterness...
Overall; I may have sat on this bottle a touch too long... Was originally waiting for a friend and finally said to hell with it and opened it up... I enjoyed this but definitely feel like a more fresh sample would have a lot more going on.. Would love to try another for comparison but at the moment I am unfortunately, a little underwhelmed...
