Poured into a snifter, a mildly hazy light orange. Nice head and good lacing.
Smells hoppy. Really pungent with piney hop resins and a citrus bomb in the nostrils.
Goes in super smooth, especially considering the hops. Oily pine and citrus with a strong malt to back it up. Super sweet, leaves and oily sweetness on the lips that is delightful. Really hoppy, but definitely one of the tamer double IPAs I have had. The hops did not seem excessive and were well balanced. The alcohol is barely noticable.
Pretty good. Not world class and it doesn't come close to some of the west coast IIPAs (Pliny the Younger, Hercules, etc.) but it is damn good and has many qualities that make it unique. Not another ultra hopped out beer, there is craftmanship and care behind it.
