22oz bomber purchased from the brewery in Munster, IN.
Pours a slightly hazed, golden amber hue with two fingers of billowy, off-white foam and sheets of lacing on the nonic glass. Beautiful, glowing appearance on this brew.
Smell is deep citrusy orange rind, clementine, pineapple, papaya, tangerine, fruity esters (alcohol), floral and woody hops, perfume, pine needle, peach, bubblegum, red grapefruit, white cracker, and doughy cake batter. A very tropical, aromatic nose in the west coast mold.
Taste is big bold layers of juicy and fleshy navel orange, peach, nectarine, caramel, jujube candy, pineapple and honey sweetness, mango, biscuit, lemon, and a smooth, citric hop bitterness with white grapefruit and pine needle on the cough. This beer assaults the taste buds with a pungent onslaught of intense hop flavours. An absolutely delicious ale.
Mouthfeel is slick and oily, fuller than medium bodied, juicy middle, tangy and spicy hop bite, mild burn on the tongue, sticky and resinous bitterness, dry finish precedes a fleeting aftertaste. Quite the nuanced palate here.
Overall, this world-beating DIPA is in a class of its own. Dreadnaught has everything that a hop head could ask for, and I enjoyed savouring my bottle over the course of a couple hours. Seek this one out.
