A: Pours a hazy gold with a thin, creamy white head. I really dig the hazy, unfiltered apearance of this beer.
S: A lot gentler than I would expect from an American DIPA. Aromas of pine, orange, lemon, grapefruit, and mango are immediately noticeable. I guess I was expecting something more resinous and abrasive.
T: Starts off bitter and citrusy with navel orange, kumquat, lemon, grapefruit, and mango notes in abundance. Pine, spruce, caramel, mint, and biscuit flavors kick in around mid-palate. The finish is long, bitter, and a bit resinous with pine, caramel, citrus, and biscuit notes in a relatively even balance.
M: Medium to full bodied with gentle, yet insistent carbonation. Starts off fairly dry, but gets a little stickier by the finish. Very juicy and weighty, but still drinkable, and with no alcohol burn whatsoever. Unlike many ales of this style, Dreadnaught's balance is particularly commendable. Very polished.
O: This is easily one of the best DIPAs I've tried. Dreadnaught displays a wonderful balance of malt and hop flavors-it's not just a one-dimensional hop bomb. A truly exceptional beer, this is one not to miss.
