Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  9.50% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
9.5% ABV 99 IBUs - A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavor is both smooth and memorable.

Glowing copper-orange with little haze and small carbonation, white ring with no head, just lacey white bubbles.

Pineapple, mango. Sweet tropical fruits, not overpowering for a big DIPA like this.

Really sweet and smooth. Malts provide a rich and thick mouthfeel, with a resinous sweetness in the aftertaste. Very sweet, tropical DIPA. The hops are delicious but subdued in terms of bitterness.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A: Hazy orange with a 1/2 finger head that slowly dissipates.
S: Citrus, a hint of pine, flowers, white bread and a bit of spice.
T: Nice balance; grapefruit and pine from the hops, spice, a bit sweet, and malt to finish.
M: A little smooth, a little creamy, a little carbonation, a little spicy kick- a little goes a long way. Very pleasant on the tongue.
O: I really enjoyed this- probably drank it a bit too quickly. Another great 3F brew.

Poured from the bottle into my Bruery snifter/tulip.

Poured a perfectly clear golden/orange color with a 3 finger white head that stuck around for a bit.

Smell is excellent - definite citrus burst right off the start, followed by some piney resin scents and a bit of alcohol.

Taste follows smell, though I wish it had a bit more of a malty backbone to balance it out more. Regardless, still delicious.

Mouthfeel was spot on for this style.

Overall a solid DIPA....I have been drinking a lot of Heady Topper and Nugget Nectar lately, which are a bit better than this offering, but still, a solid DIPA that I will seek out again.
