Poured into a tall glass.

DN pours a medium orange color, with a generous amount of snow-colored head. Snow caps retain pretty well on this pour; cloudy, but can see through it. Nice aroma on this, especially as it warms a bit. To me, the smell is comprised of sweet malts & a bit of tropical fruit. This has one of my favorite tastes for a DIPA: pretty complex variety of tropical/summer fruits (peachy/apricot/mango types). The mouthfeel is appropriate for the style: on the heavy side of medium. There is a nice, dry, bitter finish.

The first time I had this, it really blew me away. It's been a while since I had a fresh pour of this. My palate has matured a bit, but it still stands tall to me. One of my favorite complex, well balanced DIPAs.

Second bottle from trade. Pours a beautiful murky orange. The head is fluffy white with good retention. The nose is bitter pine and citrus with a bit of toasted bread in the background. Flavor is dense sweet tropical fruits, bitter pine resin, a little caramel note of sweetness at the back end. Finishes with a bit of oily sweet tropical goodness. A very enjoyable brew.

A: Inch white head tops the amber hazy colored brew with loads of lacing throughout the entire glass.

S: All hops, intense passion fruit, citrus, pine aromas. On second smell some malts and caramel come through.

T: Smack in the face with fruit! Mango, pineapple, apricot, grapefruit. Bitterness begins the finish, but malt and caramel sweetness swoop in at the last second. Really intense and nuanced. Bitterness is kept in balance with other elements, definitely for hop-lovers but everything is nicely in tune.

M: High carbonation, body is average but works perfectly to allow focus to be on the aroma and taste.

O: Really nice IIPA, even though I'm in Chicago it is surprisingly difficult to find 3F. Snapped this up when I saw it and now am wishing I grabbed two!

On tap at the Bavarian Lodge. I had the zombie dust before this one. I think the zombie dust is actually hoppier. This is still an amazing double ipa. FFF does amazing work. I had this in a bottle before but it's so nice to try on tap. If I could only drink from one brewery for the rest of my life it'd be FFF.
