Poured into an imperial pint
Appearance- Pours a clear copper color with a two finger just off white head. Good retention and nice lace left throughout the drink.
Smell- Loads of citrus hops over a strong caramel and toffee malt base. Smells like FFF.
Taste- Sweet caramel and toffee up front. Has a light toasted bready likeness in the middle, with a slow lingering honey flavor. A nice hop addition towards the back end, pineapple, grapefruit, and lemon stand out (FFF and those Amarillos, they get me every time!) Lingering blend of caramel and citrus on the palate, it works well overall.
Mouthfeel- Lighter sided body with medium carbonation. Very smooth, highly drinkable.
Overall- A very nice take on the normally mundane Irish Red Ale. A bit out of the norm, but a bit better than the vast majority of the beers of the style. You could drink a boat load of this if you chose to! Slainte & Pouge Mahone!
