Thanks once again to Bluejacket74 for hooking this up!
A- Poured from the bottle with a substantial off-white head... almost a light tan color... kinda like the froth you get on a cappuccino... which produced some nice bits of sticky lacing over a chill-hazed red-amber body, with some nice little bubbles trickling up the sides of the glass.
S- Wow. A huge nose with a wonderful pale and crystal malt aroma in near-perfect balance with a wonderfully bold zesty hop aroma. While this is a big bold nose, it is strikingly simple- a balance of big malt and hop aromas... and it smells great!
T- The flavor is definitely hop-dominant. You get a little bit of the malt and a touch of diacetyl up front, but it's almost immediately overwhelmed by some earthy and citrus hop flavors... and from the mid-palate through the finish, some moderate hop bitterness that lingers on tongue. I'm also getting a little metallic at the end... Overall, I'm a little disappointed how it loses its balance here.
M- Medium body with some texture... presumably from unattenuated sugar. Reasonably soft carbonation, but it's a bit bloating... making me burp a bunch. Low to moderate astringency. I'd like to have a little less astringency here.
D- Goes down reasonably well. I wouldn't turn away from another bottle...
