Served in a bowtie glass at Three Floyds 10/20/07. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

A: Served a darkish carmelly-brown color. This one came very still and with virtually no head.

S: Caramel malt and hops pretty much dominate this one.

T: Just see above with toasted malt and a nice toasty finish.

M: Smooth. The mouthfeel was just incredible!

D: Despite the 8% this one could be sessionable.

This appears to have replaced the Fantabulous as the alternate strong ale at FFF. As another noted, the alcohol level is listed at 8 or 8.5 % and that seemed about right. It's a stretch to call it an English style IPA. It may have replaced the Fantabulous on the menu, but it is quite different. There was a bitter edge that almost smacked of the minerality one might find in certain wines. On a personal note, I do prefer the more rounded, fruity flavor of the Resplendence. Not great, but good. After the Thulza, I resorted to Dreadnaught for the remainder of the evening.

this was a limited release or one-off beer at the brewpub and it poured a beautiful clear, orangey-copper with an off-white head and lacing. nice nose of caramel, apricots, citrus, honey, and flowers with just a hint of alcohol. taste followed suit, with the viscous sweet malts balanced out by a lingering, smooth hop bitterness with some carbonation struggling through. quite drinkable for a DIPA at this abv.
note: the menu at the pub had the abv listed as 8% and 80 IBU's.

12oz Bowtie
$5.00
Three Floyds Pub

This beer was served at the bar in a bowtie glass and appeared the color of apricots with a slight haze. A one finger creamy white head formed on the pour and as it slowly fell left substantial lacing.
Good looking beer for sure.

The aroma was a great balance of caramel and bready maltiness along with juicy (although muted for balances sake) stone fruits including peach and apricot. I mgiht be crazy because I dont remember the menu stating this beer had any association with oak but there's no doubt in my mind oak was present.

This was a great tasting IPA, although leaning toward the English version itr wasn't really English either. A great combo of flavors with an incredible balance. The oak was in the flavor as well and added another layer of complexity to an alredy complex brew.

You couldn't wish for a better mouthfeel. Medium body with an unmatched creaminess. This beer is liquid velvet in the mouth. I find a lot of oak aged beers to have this same velvety mouthfeel so there goes my conspiracy theory again.

Highly drinkable. This beer disappeared far too fast. I was half scared to order another after the first one went down in record time. Of course I ordered another anyway.

This is a great beer from Three Floyds that I would love to see bottled. great flavors and complexities make this a world class brew.

My first beer at FFF Brew-pub. It was served in a 12 oz. bowtie glass. It arrived with 1/4" off white head over a copper colored beer. Very pronounced lacing on the glass.

Aroma was nice... a good balance of hops and malt sweetness. Citrus and pine both!

Flavor: Citrus and Pine hops hits first but is quickly balanced by a carmel sweetness that takes the edge off. Even some fruity taste like apples, that heps add to the experience.

Mouthfeel: Nicely carbonated and quite robust. Solid mouthcoating and nice aftertaste.

Drinkability: Solid IPA.... with some unique features that set it apart from the standard.... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Had this on tap at 3 floyd's brewpub in Muenster. review is from notes.

Reddish, cloudy beer with good lacing. Smelled like caramel and hop oils. Pleasantly wheaty with some apricot flavors and a hoppy, back-of-the-throat aftertaste. Sharp and carbonated mouthfeel. Good taste, but too harsh to session with.

Fairly clear, copper color with a beige head that leaves pretty nice lacing on the glass. Smell is fruits..big apricot & pineapple, surprisingly. The aroma is more complex with every sniff..bready caramel malts, spices, gingerbread, pine needles, and of course some harsh hops as well. Taste is similar..harsh bitterness from the hops and apricot flavors. Not your normal IPA flavors, that's for sure. Mouthfeel is medium with a harsh hop bite that takes the drinkability down a notch. All-in-all, another great offering from FFF.

On tap at he brewery pours a hazy copper with a hint of red and a medium off-white head after being transfered from plastic serving cup to my New Belgium 0.4 L rastal sniffer that trapped it's big, sweet malty aromas. (Berries, apricot, caramel, whole grains, some light citrus and touch of pine)

Starts with sweet elements, dominated by caramel malt and fresh baked bread augumented with an awesome use of Aroma and Flavor hops. The body is smooth and creamy, not too thick, but substantial. A balance of the tastes from hops, malt, and spices followed by a lingering herbal bitter finish.

Dollar an ounce and damned well worth it!

(Served in an American pint glass from a growler)

A-Nice deep golden brown body that is clear with a gentle carbonation. Nice creamy tan head.

S- very big floral hops with a hint of pineapple and some dry malt aroma.

T- A bold grassy hoppiness from the first sip with some faint grapefruit flavor aswell. The finish is a hint of pale malt with some crystal malt aswell. A slight sweetness to the malt as it finishes with more hoppy bitterness at the finish.

M- Very low carbonation maybe due to the growler but nice thick mouthfeel. No alcohol warmth but a slight hop pucker at the finish although it’s very gentle.

D- This beer is solid chewy hops but it has the malt to support it. The hops linger on your breath long after the sip. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive to get the brew.

Poured a dark, dark copper with a thin head that stayed throughout the drink and left a nice lacing. Smells of bitter, earthy hops. Malt and some butter is there too. Tastes, malty, but also spicy. Sweet malt which is followed by a spicy hop tingle, holding it on the tongue for a while to warm it up only makes the hops come through even more. It's spicy, but nowhere near unbearable. Glad to see this on tap when I came in to get my single bomber of Dark Lord.
