Reviewed from notes.
Pours out a typical lightly-hazed orangish-amber IPA color with one finger of off-white foamy head that lasts for a few minutes and leaves behind adequate lacing on the inside of the glass. Medium body and higher side of medium carbonation levels, the somewhat snappy bubbling action on the tongue stays interesting without being distracting.
Smells and tastes about the same: A solid pine resin, grapefruit and orange peel combination over a caramel malt with some mild toasted aspects and a mild Simcoe sort of onion garnish combined with a handful of floral and grassy hopping going on in the background. My particular bomber managed to hit the exact balance point between malt sweetness and hop bittering that my palate prefers, and if there had only been a little bit more complexity of flavor and aroma, this could have easily earned fives in those categories.
Another solid offering from Three Floyds that is worth giving a try if you can find a fresh enough bomber.
