Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is brewed during the hop harvest with a portion of unkilned or “wet” hops fresh off the vine. Apricot in color, Broo Doo’s nose has dominant orange, pine sap and floral notes, balanced by a glazed nut and toffee malt body. This celebration of the hop harvest has intense tropical fruit, citrus and spicy accents that showcase the complexity of the hops we all love.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter.

Appearance: Pours an orangish amber with a finger of off white head that fades to a ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell: Just a touch of sweetness from the malt with a strong citrus hop profile.

Taste: This one has a good balance. The hops seem quite fresh, citrus peel hop bitterness. The finish is really bitter and perhaps a bit peppery.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with smooth carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: This is a solid fresh hop IPA. Not my favorite from the brewery but still pretty good.

Pours out a real nice yellow in color. Can't see through the beer. Head was a tiny, white, and had little retention.

Smell is muted but seems to be tropical forward. There seems to be some caremal malts in the background that adds sweetness to the nose. Taste is more piny (85%) with a little tropical (15%) as far as the hop bill. There's still a little sweet caremal in the background but it really takes the back seat to the pine.

I'm assuming this must be an older bottle so take from that what you will. It seems the Three Floyds that pops up in Hudson, WI is sometimes older. Given they say October release and I just got this in the store today and its the first time I've seen it, one can only assume it must taste better fresh.

poured from a bomber to a sam adams perfect pint.

a- pours a slightly hazy dark straw color with a thick billowing white fluffy head. slow to die off, it leaves some great frothy lacing down the glass

s- typical of a wet hop ipa, nice juicy hop smells. a bit of tropical citrus fruit and some pine there as well. there is some malt there as well to balance it out a little. falls a little short of its competitors though (wet, celebration)

t- decent balance for your typial wet hop. huge citrus/tropical fruit flavor. a little mango and grapefruit perhaps? thick hop flavor balanced by nice malty sweetness with a little caramel to it. tasty because of the balance, but again, not the complete hop bomb of some of its competitors

m- syrupy and viscous as it should be for a wet hop. a little thicker than the previously named competitors, which i like. abv is very hidden and the brew is very drinkable.

overall, not my favorite wet hop brew, but perhaps the most balanced. no date on the bottle, so maybe its a tad old, but who knows really if breweries dont start dating anything. Anyways, i digress. another tasty brew from three floyds that doesnt necessarily blow my mind, but is still very tasty.

Poured from bomber into Boulevard tulip. Bottle purchased the day it came in at $8.99, but apparently it was brewed a couple months ago? What's up with that?

A: Pours a beautiful rich golden color with some orange and mild haze. Head is moderate and creamy for an IPA, fairly bright white with average retention. Minimal lacing. This is beer is very inviting.

S: Sticky pine hops hit me first, followed by some sweet citrus and a hint of candied malt that increases as it warms. Telltale damp grass is there as well, reminding me this is a fresh hop ale.

T: Exactly as expected here, which is a good thing. Very dry pine hops with that fresh hop resin. Whenever fresh hops are done right, they do a nice job of reminding me of fresh cut grass early in the spring. This hits the mark, even though it has likely faded a bit.

M: Tight and resinous without being sticky like, say, Surly Wet. Lingers quite a while, with the bitterness hitting early and often.

O: This is a fantastic example of a wet hopped beer, and I it is too bad the price is high and distribution is spotty in my area. Three Floyd's never ceases to impress me with their hopped up ales. Well worth the purchase.

These notes are from a while back, but they're good.

The color is a bright, fairly thick orange with a bit of haziness along with the brightness. A nearly white head is just about a finger tall and shows some stick and substance, retaining itself well and dropping legs and patches of lacing on the glass.
Citrus is here, but pine takes the show at first. Big and resinous in the aroma, eventually some other tropical fruits and citrus are allowed to come out. As it sits, more of the fruits and a bit of caramel malt come out.
Resinous pine hits the tongue hard but doesn't kill the palate, as a creamy caramel malt brings up some sweetness before it reaches the breaking point. The bitterness is big for sure. A bit of the tropical fruits come out, but not as much as in the nose, which is slightly fresher and more complex than the flavor.
The body is medium and carbonation moderate-medium. There's crispness that never gives in, even as it slides aside to make room for a lush, smooth feel as it goes. This one flows very nicely.
