Poured into a snifter, dark body, deep reddish orange with a thin head. The nose is yeasty, with sweet, sweet malts, some fruitiness that gets amplified once you actually drink it. My friend and I were trying to debate exactly what the fruit was that we tasted the most, and we decided upon a drink rum soaked cherry, seems kind of strange, but it fit. The cherry was edged out by the malty base, with some alcohol burn, and a sweet yeasty backbone. Damn this was a fine beer, and I want to try this one again, soon.

(Served in a chalice)

A- This beer pours an amber dark brown color and is pretty clear but dense. The thick creamy head is tan and last a good while.

S- The smell of coffee with a faint hint of smoke has notes of prunes, chocolate and a faint maple wood in the finish. As it warms notes of light candy sugar and wet hay come though a bit. Very complex but they all work well together.

T- This beer has a tangy note of candy prunes with a mead flavor and a nice alder smoke note. There are dark malt flavors that are sweet with a candy sugar and red cherry hint. There is also a faint brown sugar note at the finish that is not overly sweet.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a slight fizz that is tight and cuts the sweet taste nicely. No real alcohol heat is noticed.

D- Wow this stuff has to go in a bottle. It is very complex but the flavors all meld and work together. Delicious. Make sure to bring your growler if you try this one, and you can take some of this goodness home.

Our recent trip to 3 Floyds was made with the intention of trying Dolomite and Deesko, both of which were on the online menu, but when we got there Dolomite was nowhere to be found and Deesko had just been finished at the pub. Darn. Anyway, we tried some other things and this was easily the best of the pack.

Served in a snifter, looked nice brownish red and very dark. small ring of foam. some clove spice odor with dense malt smells too. Delicious flavor...tons of thick dark fruits with spices and caramel/chocolate. Sticky mouthfeel. not harsh at all like some tripels can be, hard to drink a lot of only because of the ABV but a real treat to work through slowly at the end of a meal. Can they bottle this? And send it to me?

Had this on tap at the 3F brewpub. Left a small surface skim head, not much retention, and not much lacing. Body was medium reddish brown. Looked like a dubbel rather than a tripel.

Smell - fruity esters, medicinal phenols. Cloves, bananas, dark dried fruits, plums, raisins, overripe pears, caramel, candy sugar, and dark bread. Mouthwatering.

Taste - like the smell. Dark fruits, plums, cherries, raisins, overripe pears, dark bread, and sweet rolls, and all washed through with caramel and candy sugar, and also all subtly washed through with cloves, spices, and bananas. Very well hidden abv. Very rich, and very good.

Mouthfeel - meduim fullness, smooth, low carbonation, and semi-dry.

Drinkability - this is very good, and it goes down well. High abv limits sessionability.
