This is a black beer which is dark brown when held up to the light with a thin dark head and amazing wall-like lacing that coats the whole glass. Smell is a bit muted but mostly rasted malt and malted/ chocolate milk. Holy crap is this tasty. I am blown away by the balance between richness and smooth drinkability in this beer. It has alot in common with milk or sweet stout, but has an assertive citrusy bitterness that does a great deal to brighten the taste. I also get a nice maple or brown sugar flavor between. I would describe this better but it would just make you want it, and chances are, you can't get it.

Poured into a ten ounce glass with very little head which is surprising due to the nitro tap. Very dark beer with red on the edges. Smells of a light caramel, roasted grains, faint coffee, also a faint dark chocolate. The tongue is heavy on the roasted grain, not as much coffee as one would expect. Slightly alcoholic taste, but the body is a thick consistency with an aftertaste of a mocha chocolate. Easy to drink, and a thick tongue made it a beer worth trying again.

Poured off the nitro-tap at FFF. I was told that this was an aged version of the first batch. This beer poured a deep brown with ruby highlights around the edges of the glass. A thin, creamy beige head lasted forever. The sides of the glass were totally encompassed in lace. The aroma was made up of dark fruits, chocolate, and a bit of citrus hops. The flavor had a good amount of rasberry and chocolate. Also a good spicy hop finish. Towards the bottom of the glass, a very strong sweet aftertaste seems to take over. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and very creamy. An excellent brew, but the sweetness tends to overwhelm the balance towards the end.

Red Tendon arrived in a 9.5 ounce glass with a spectacular cascade that settled into a deep dark brown color with ruby highlights. The head was a thing of beauty, a thick finger of velvety, creamy tan foam. The lacing was ridiculously thick and sticky, I doubt if anything less than scraping would get it out of the glass.
The smell was sweet rich malt, chocolate, fruity citrus hops, roasted and toasty with lightly burnt and carmelized sugar. The taste followed the smell pretty well with the chocolate coming across more as unsweetened cocoa and the hops adding a pleasant light bitterness.
The mouthfeel was velvety soft and creamy, the carbonation was fairly light and the body was medium heavy.
Wow! This was a real treat. If the opportunity presents itself I would wholeheartedly recommend that you not miss this one, it is simply spectacular.
My understanding is that this started as an experimental small batch, but due to popular demand this may be brewed more often and in larger batches.
