22 oz. bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear medium amber color with a big, billowing off-while head. Great head retention.

Smell: Mix of biscuity malt and piney, floral hops along with some citrus, Definitely a much heavier hop presence than expected in a Marzen. It's kind of a bizarre presence actually, and the balance between malt and hops could definitely be better.

Taste: The same issues present in the aroma are present here - an awkward mix of what seems like could be an solid malt profile and an unbalanced hop profile that does little more than get in the way. Malt flavor is really the defining feature of the Marzen style, and the extent to which the hops overpower the malt in this beer is pretty disappointing.

Mouthfeel: Body is on the thin side of medium-bodied, with mid-level carbonation.

Overall: I know 3 Floyds loves to over-hop everything they do, and most of the time it works out really well. This is not a style for which that strategy works.

Pours a dark amber. Not much head. 1/2 finger at best. Caramel nose. Not much else. Caramel with large orange undertones. Not much presents of hops. Nice amount of carbonation. Clean mouth. I'm not a lager person, but this , I would recommend!
