Review taken from notes during inet downtime(late may 2012).
Bomber style bottle that reads 1 pint 6 oz. Some incredible artwork on this label. This is pure FFF style. Poured into a nonic pint glass.
A - Golden copperish orange in color. They all come to mind when I look at this ale. Some Cloudiness within the body, but still a hazy clarity. Frothy head that is cloudy white in color. Provides a good amount of stick on the way down and stays around a good while. Heads is loaded with a mix of all different sizes of bubbles.
S - all English ingredients. English caramel malt for the most part with an oak aged aroma. Grapefruit and citrusy orange like hop notes with pine chasing in the background. Aroma has an earthy character.
T - a bunch of Fruitiness and malt flavors. Grapefruit, oranges, and some dark fruits up front. Dark malt and an Oaked flavor with some light sweet caramel and a very faint chocolate note. Citrus notes of lemons creep in amongst the malt. Even a little bit of pineapple creeps up from nowhere. Hoppiness doesn't really take full notice til the finish with a little booziness and bitterness at the back.
M - Smooth medium bodied. Very thick and flavorsome in the mouth. A nice sticky coating in the mouth. Alcohol isn't potent and makes the brew very easy to drink.
O - boy oh boy, what a treat. Not your normal ipa loaded with hops and bitterness. But a thick in the mouth gem with a ton of flavor. Its a delicious masterpiece and offers the ipa fan a change in direction in a world class manner. It's a fantastic English style ipa Using wonderful English yeast, hops and malt. Flavors are a bit different, but the uses of malt along with mellow hops are on the same base and just plain splendid. Blackheart continues a big line of awesome beers the guys at Three Floyds have to offer. Nothing but world class here. This is a straight up flavor filled enjoyment of an ale. I'll buy this every year. A must try. As are all FFF brews.

very creamy white pour, golden liquid with little carbonation. looks awesome! must be good... there is a small gnat sitting on the edge! I don't imagine he'll take much away from this 22oz bottle, though.
funky honey aroma, not much else. honey, but decent brew aroma....
taste is funky too! bitter hops up front to accompany the funky smell. then some biscuit-y malt and lots of malt sweetness... funky pale bitterness... british? maybe. a little different? for sure. would I buy again? no. but is it worth a try? definitely!
