A-Deep black, one finger off-white head.

S-Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate.

T-Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, some bitterness. The balance here is amazing.

M-Medium bodied, somewhere between watery and creamy. Becomes more creamy as it warms up.

O-The balance here was just great. Does not approach Everett level but still a top level porter.

22oz bomber dated 03/04/14.

Pours quite dark with a substantial, frothy, and light khaki head. Looks great. The nose is heavy roast, dark fruit, baker's chocolate, and sweet, creamy coffee. Smells great. Taste is sweet at the very beginning; then transitions to roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, and lots of roasted malt; finishes with a sweet and bitter creaminess. Aftertaste is roasty and bitter. Tastes great. Mouthfeel is slightly chewy and creamy; strong carb action.

A really tasty beer; the flavors are intense but not over the top. Great sweet creaminess that's balanced perfectly with dark roastiness. There's a lot of coffee-like flavor and aroma in Topless Wytch, which was great, so I'd love to see what Three Floyds could do with a straight-up coffee stout or porter.

22 oz. bottle, with bottled on date 03/04/2014, so this is some pretty fresh beer right here at just under a month old. My first encounter with this offering from Three Floyds, and I think also my first porter from them. Awesome bottle art.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a dark woodsy caramel brown; opaque black in the glass with one finger of frothy tan head. Some thin spotty lacing that falls quickly. It's okay to look at, but it's not amazing looking.

S - Chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla beans up front, followed by subtle coffee bean roast. Fudge / cookie dough aromas in there also. A decent aroma of moderate strength, but I do find myself wishing for more.

T - Taste follows the nose: bitter coffee beans, chocolate / cocoa, fudge, vanilla beans, cream, & hints of ashy / dark char sort of tastes. Underlying hop presence is noticeable on the end. More dark barley roast & chocolate malt than anything else.

M - Crisp, smooth and creamy, with spritzy frothy carbonation on the finish. Medium-full bodied with slightly coarse bloating carb presence.

Overall, a nice porter from Three Floyds, but it is slightly above average at best. About what I expected coming from these guys. I'd be more interested to see what the bourbon barrel aged version would be like.

Look - beautiful.... Brown w slight red. Dark dark dark. Head is very foamy and stuck around.
Smell - slight chocolate, has a hint of fruit like a plum, smells like a Baltic porter. Tingles the nose.
Taste - has slight coffee but not overpowering, very clean and doesn't hang around. Taste stays w you but not in a bad way at all and is very consistent.
Feel - smooooth w a great carbonation. Light and not heavy at all.
Overall - this is a fantastic beer and I'd get it every time I see it at the brew pub.

Pours deep woody brown in color and thick in consistency. Head is velvety smooth about half a fringes and retains nicely.

Smell has aromas of chocolate malt and a mild coffee charred presence. Rich malty aroma is balanced with a moderate herbal hop presence.

Taste has rich chocolate and coffee malt flavors forward. There is an herbal bitterness along with a taste of saddle leather and tobacco. Moderate bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is velvety smooth, thick, mildy csrbonated and heavy bodied. Not very lager like.

This had a dense thick foamy head that had true staying power and the body is a completely black hue.

The nose is chocolate malt, roasted coffee, toasted malts, tea leaf and tobacco.

The flavor is dry chocolate malt, kind of rubbery and vastly underwhelming.

The feel is very dry, smooth and light.

This was leading it's way to being a remarkable ale until I actually tasted it and found it to be lethargic and boring.
