Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  11.00% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
9.5-11.0% ABV, 100 IBUs - This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.

Appearance: Hazy gold, good head.

Smell: Bitter citrus.

Taste: Starts out with a floral, rose-like taste before smacking you with a huge boozy caramel doppelbock flavor, then finishes with bitter grapefruit.

Drinkability: An interesting DIPA, hard to find in these parts though.

Picked up a bottle of this in Hudson, WI. Decided to bite the bullet and cough up the dough for some new 3 Floyds. This was a nice tasty DIPA, an interesting mix of flavors. Definitely has a big malt component to balance out the hops.

22oz bottle, huge thanks to Vega406 for getting me this. Should be less then a week old from the brewery. Poured into Jackie O's snifter.

A- Pours a hazy translucent orange golden with about a half-quarter finger of white frothy head that dissipates to leave a thin layer of head. About average carbonation.

S- Smells of citrus (grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon, etc.) hops with a slightly floral profile and some malts in the background. Slightly above average aroma strength.

T- Grapefruit hops, tangerines, lemons, definitely maltier then your average DIPA, can taste the lactose malts but blends in well with the hop profile. A tiny bit bitter, but not too much. Finishes with a lightly sweet tangerine taste.

M- Medium bodied, abv very well hidden especially at 11%- can still tell it's there a little bit in the taste though, finishes very smooth and well balanced.

O- This was a quality DIPA, however I've been spoiled with very good DIPAs and I don't know if I'd consider this one of the best one's I've had. It was a little bit hot, the abv could have been turned down a little bit, the maltiness dominated the hops a little bit too much in the taste however it was fairly well balanced. I recommend DIPA fans trying this, but I wouldn't put it on my must try list. I just had the Stone Ruination 10th Anniversary last night, they were both very similar (abv, maltiness, etc.) and it's hard to say which one I liked better (maybe the Stone one a little bit more).

A: Pours a cloudy medium gold/apricot with only a tiny amount of pure white head. What little foam does develop fades quickly, and there is some awesome lacing left on the glass as it drinks.

S: The nose is big citrus hops (lemon, orange, mild grapefruit), spice, and light malt. The citrus notes dominate, with the spice and malt playing second fiddle.

T: It starts off sweet and juicy with a good malt base and notes of orange citrus. As it moves to the middle the hops get much stronger, as theymix with some spice. I get clove, grapefruit, yeast, and alcohol. The finish is mega hopped with super bitters and booze.

M: Full bodied beer. It starts wet and sweet, coats the palate, gets super bitter, and finishes boozy and sticky.

O: Pretty good. I much prefer some of Three Floyd's over offerings, but this beer is still pretty good. But the alcohol percentage and the mega hop bitters in the finish turn me off a bit.

A: cloudy tan/clay body, 2 finger head, spiderweb lacing

S: peach, mango, oak/woodsy, pine, malt, mild vanilla/buttery

T: sweet citrus front, big oak/vanilla, malt, long bitter smooth finish

M: medium body, oily/sticky + smooth mouth

O: Interesting beer. The flavors makes it so refreshing
to drink and never had a Double IPA have
such a unique mouthfeel. Well done, FFF.
I would get this again.

VERY GOOD, WORTH SEEKING OUT!
