Style | ABV
American Double / Imperial IPA |  11.00% ABV

Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
9.5-11.0% ABV, 100 IBUs - This complex double India pale ale has an intense citrus and floral hop aroma balanced by a velvety malt body which has been augmented with lactose milk sugar. With this different take on an IPA we have brewed an ale that is both pleasing to drink and, once again, “not normal.” Cheers! June release.

A: typical Double Imperial Ipa, not as hazy as people lead on, but its a nice looking light copper color with a 2 finger foamy, soapy head.

S: this beer smells a lot like Alpha King with lots of Lemon peel and citrus notes, i didnt get a lot of tropical fruits like i thought i would..there is some mango and a touch of pineapple.

T: This to me is an imperial version of Alpha King...I get a lot of lemon peel and strong citrus notes with a little bit of Mango. The lactose in this beer is not a game changer at all. The sweetness does come through on the back end of this beer mixed with the bitter finish which makes for an interesting experience , but thats about it.

M: This beer has a more than medium mouth feel but not quite full bodied. The lactose does thicken the beer up, which i like , but the carbonation almost wants to negate the effects in a way..was expecting way more.
update!!!
O:im glad i revisited this beer, its truly amazing...i was going through a lot when i first tried this beer and my mind was wayyy out there!!!! this beer is delicious.

What a fine beer here. Intensely smooth Double IPA that has a strong citrus and floral hop aroma that is all brought together with a sweetness of lactose sugar is surly complex, but very pleasant from start to finish. Yet another great Three Floyds brew, and rate this near the top of my list of DIPA's.

poured from 22oz bottle into teku.

A - A delightful peach/apricot orange with a bright 2 finger white head that dissipates quickly. Nice ring around my glass with good lacing.

S - Big floral hops, with orange and ripe pineapple. Some good sweet honey and more floral sweetness continue in the aroma. Some light herbal leafy and earthy scents.

T - Nice citrus and blood orange up front followed by honey and sweet bread. More ripe pineapple honey that finishes into a sharp bitterness. I really enjoy IIPAs that are flavored like this.

M - Smooth and rich for a IIPA. Carbonation is medium and there is a nice slick oily feel with bitterness left on my tongue.

O - This is well balanced with big juicy bitter hops and a wonderful sweetness. Wish I could find this easily in WI as it is well worth it. Reminds me of Toppling Goliath Sosus.
