On tap in a pint glass at Bodega on 10/21/11

Cloudy tangerine and straw hue. Poured a thin wispy head. Some lace that doesn't hold.

Thin aroma - toasted grain and faint buttered biscuit. grassy hops and watery orange peel. More full of flavor. Modest hop kick turns to grains aplenty and grass. Toast with a hint of butter. Some lingering bitterness with a prickly feel on the finish. Lemongrass. Medium-light body for the style. Appropriately lively carbonation.

Easy enough to drink. Enjoyable but not amazing. Too bitter a finish.

A- Gold in color and slightly hazy, more than I would prefer. Thin white head that becomes patchy with time. No lacing can be seen.

S- Toasted sweet malt with an underlining grainy character. Clean and crisp lager character. Bread and biscuit lie beneath throughout.

T- Very much follows the taste. A sweet toasted malt in the front. The clean crisp lager character with a grainy cracker taste towards the middle. A floral hop taste emerges in the middle and progresses to the finish. Little to no bitterness in the finish with a lingering malt sweetness.

M- Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Sweet finish.

O- Although not quite at the session beer range, a great lager you can have a couple of and not feel too bad. Not quite as good at Dortmunder Gold, but in the same ballpark.

A: pours a clear light gold, 1 finger of white head, some lacing, minimal head retention

S: nose features an onslaught of pale malts, notes of straw, corn, wheat, and bread come through with a bit of nuttiness on the finish

T: clean crisp malty flavors, notes of cereal grains, pale malts are big, lots of bread, some caramel, a touch of corn, lager yeast is noticeable. This is a nice dortmunder, great balance and very refreshing.

MF: light body, high carbonation

O: this is a nicely constructed lager, the malts are well pronounced without going overboard.

Had on tap at the UChicago pub. Hazy straw with a small white head but lots of lacing--could use more carbonation. Smells bready but with a distinct sweet and mineral sharpness, and the taste is one of the strongest lagers I've ever had. Very malty, with nut and wheat tastes, but with lovely sharp citric hops and a crisp grassy finish. I wish there was more carbonation--it's sweet with a medium body, very nice drinker. Would get again in a lager mood.

Beer poured from bottle into a Nonic-pint shaped glass

Different label that "advertised," must be something new. Either way I dig it.

A - Beer pours with a small, less than one finger size head; white in color, slightly bubbly in appearance, doesn't hold very well; head diminishes quickly into the golden cloudy body; some moderate carbonation stems from the bottom of the glass; some lacing formed also, but didn't stick well - streaky

S - Crisp sweet lager nose; one-dimensional traditional lager airiness; corn and grains; lager-esq; slightly fruity; clean; pear; bread

T - Good clean and crisp lager drink; grains like corn and barley come up rather quickly and disappear pretty quickly; malt is slightly nutty, but has the traditional cold-fermented malt taste; sweet, like a immature white grape; bread

M - Thick and filling beer; very effervescent and smooth; creamy; finishes with a crisp heavy woody taste; leaves a slight tangy feel on the edge of the tongue

D - One of the better lagers I've had; easy to drink and enjoy; could replace the cheap crap beers I've had while watching the game; I like 3 Floyd's lager-venture, long-time waiting
